Reflexology is often associated with a relaxing foot massage, which is done as if there was some purpose to the therapy beyond pleasure. Clients don’t really understand what’s the primary purpose of reflexology. What is it used for? How does it work.

The study of reflexes
The same intelligent power that built our bodies is the power that heals it.

Your body is unique. It has the capacity to heal and protect itself. You’ve probably seen your wounds and bruises healing with time, for example.
Here are more examples of innate (unconditioned) reflexes of a human body.
- Corneal reflex – blinking when something flies towards your eyes, or raising your arm when a ball is thrown your way.
- Cough reflex – a rapid expulsion of air from lungs when there is a sudden irritation of the trachea.
- Yawning – involves the inhalation of air, stretching of eardrums, and is followed by a large exhalation of breath. Yawning is associated with tiredness, stress, lack of stimulation, and boredom.
- Pulling your hand away from a hot object.
The benefits of these natural reflexes are obvious. No need to comment.
Some of the most brilliant minds of humanity have researched this concept – the Russian physician and Nobel Prize winner Ivan Pavlov, Vladimir Bekhterev, and Dr. William Fitzgerald, to name a few. All of them have left a message for you.
The adoption of the method is attended with absolutely no danger or disagreeable results, and may be the means of lengthening short lives and making good health catching.

The above reflexes are external, but there are internal reflexes as well. Your body responds involuntarily to external stimulation such as stress or pain. However, your internal system has it’s own reflexes which are invisble, and you might not be aware of the damage it makes.
The idea is that by manipulating one part of the body you affect another part of the body. Even mild stimulation such as applied pressure, massage, heat or herbal application, can invoke therapeutic effects in certain areas of the body, and could then retain the illness out of the body.
This way you can cure and prevent diseases without the terrific costs of the modern medicine.
Reflexology, also known as Zone Therapy, is an alternative medicine involving the physical act of applying pressure to the feet, hands or ears with thumbs and fingers through special hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion.
Reflexology uses reflexes maps of feet, hand and ears, which are mirroring the shape of a human body.
Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, it’s used to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like anxiety, asthma, headaches, kidney function, PMS and sinusitis.
